3D-TV system |
|---|---|
| Objective | 3D television, tele-conference or tele-presence |
| Description | In our project we equipped a room with a multi-camera system and a large TV screen that allows users to seem themselves on the screen from all sides. Moreover, we developed components that allow to track and render the user in real time. Details can be found at the project homepage.
Possible applications of such a system are 3D television, tele-presence and tele-conferencing. All of these applications have in common: users at remote locations can see the person inside the multi-camera room and all of his actions from arbitrary viewing angles. In combination with stereoscopic displays, remote users can be immersed in the same virtual space. The goal of this project is to develop such an application. An algorithm that renders the person from the camera images has already been developed. Remaining tasks include the network transfer of the images and user interaction interfaces. This assignment can scale from a Bacc. to a Master's thesis or a project work or a master project. Applying students should have some experience in graphics programming (OpenGL, GLSL, or CUDA) and C/C++. |
